Injection in my spine…ten bottles of pills a day…WHAT?!?

Before I introduced essential oils to my mom, she spent the better part of her life searching for solutions. She went from doctor to doctor, who prescribed numerous drugs, which came with pamphlets full of side effects. Each “fix” was just a “band-aid”, and usually caused another problem. It was a hopeless cycle, and not a way to live.

Before I was introduced to essential oils, I saw chiropractors, doctors, massage and physical therapists, and even an acupuncturist. After almost ten years, and thousands of dollars, the only remaining option was a specialist who would inject a coctail of drugs into my spine, and this was not a permanent solution.

To make matters worse, both of our households were full of cleaning supplies, toiletries, perfumes/colognes, air fresheners, and more, all of which contained chemicals known to have negative effects on health.

After being introduced to essential oils, I was skeptical, but I already tried everything else. I thoroughly researched all the different companies, and confirmed the old saying, “you get what you pay for” (ask me about retail oils, grades of oils, the truth about the words “certified” and “pure”).

The essential oils we’ve been using every day since September 2015 have rocked our world. We’ve replaced every product in our house with oil infused products, because our health and wellness deserve better. Removing toxins from our home and body is one of the best decisions we’ve ever made.

If my sister-in-law didn’t share essential oils with me years ago, we would still be poisoning our bodies. Let’s meet for coffee, or gather some friends at your place, and I will share how these oils can be used. No high pressure sales. Just a bunch of smelling, and education. Contact me, and I’ll follow up with you ASAP!!

Next step? I highly recommend you listen to this class.

Until then, may you have a happy, healthy, and prosperous future.

Essential oils for . . .
February 8, 2017

Essential oils are used for so many things! From neutralizing odors, to alleviating minor aches and pains associated with daily life. They’re used to promote an emotional well-being, to promote restful sleep, and help with occasional stress or minor anxiety. There are essential oils that can be used to suppress occasional muscle spasms, support digestive function, help maintain cholesterol and blood sugar levels already in the normal range. They can also help with upset/sour stomach, and things associated with aging like: hair loss, wrinkles, and other aging on the skin. Certain oils can even be used on pets and babies, but please do your research first.

After I got my first set of essential oils, I scoured the internet. Typically my searches started with “essential oils for…”. Initially I was more interested in what Doctors, Scientists, Universities, and Aromatherapists had to say. However, I eventually changed my focus to testimonials from everyday people like myself. Their success stories have only made me want to share essential oils more.

Please understand that essential oils can’t cure, prevent, or treat diseases. They are not a magic bullet. They are just a piece to your overall health regimen. Doing your own research and speaking with your primary care physician is advised. Please use the contact section to let me know if you have any questions! Chances are, someone you know is experiencing success using essential oils. You owe it to yourself to at least try them.

Below are some of my success stories:

2/8/17 — Wendy said she her husbands respiratory system was acting up, so they tried a competitor blend, and it did nothing. Then she tried R.C. and he was seeing results right away. #QualityMatters

8/31/16 — I just got this testimonial from Kathy, “I was just reading an article on fluoride toothpaste. I never realized but I used to get sores on my tongue all the time and since using YL toothpaste I haven’t gotten them at all. I read that sodium laurel sulfate is in toothpaste and can cause canker sores etc.”

8/11/16 — I was skeptical about reading what Black Spruce could do for a minor muscle ache around my left shoulder, but it helped!

7/26/16 — Had two bug bites on my ankles. Googled it, and am currently itch free after applying lavender. Awesome!

7/9/16 — Mom no longer has the lump under her arm after she started using the natural deodorant from Young Living. She ran out, went back to old deodorant, and the lump came back. When her order came in from YL, she went back to the natural and the lump went away. Awesome!

4/22/16 — I got them THREE times today. Finally googled essential oils for hiccups and was so surprised how quickly I got rid of them. #PeppermintEssentialOil

2/16/16 — Seth used one drop thieves on his tongue pressed to the roof of his mouth, and a 50/50 blend of RC/carrier rubbed just below his jawline on his neck a few times a day. These oils helped his immune system move through some nasty’s in a few days, and in a much more tolerable way, as opposed to the yearly 1-2 weeks. Thieves lozenges helped too.

2/8/16 — burnt my arm with steam, applied lavender and peppermint and found some relief. Next day I applied frankincense to help keep my skin looking good.

1/31/16 — I didn’t want to get too crazy, so I just ran my finger around the edge of the clove bottle and put it on my tooth, and on the gums around the tooth. It totally helped! It was most obvious on the area of the tongue I accidentally touched. How cool!

1/26/16 — Once again my mom texts me, “I can’t believe I clean humidifiers tomorrow and they don’t look like they need it. Thieves cleaner is great. No more bleach.”

1/24/16 — My mom has finally found a lip balm that works all the way through the night and into the morning. Seth really likes it too. No more dry-chapped lips!

12/20/15 — Seth confirms Cedarwood essential oil promotes restful sleep on random nights of need.

Copaiba, Valor, and Panaway continue to help me on a regular basis when my shoulder tightens up from daily routine.

12/9/15 — Mom just said, “Forgot to tell you my exciting news. Went in for my six month dental checkup, and the dentist said it’s the best check up I’ve had. We talked longer than it took for my teeth to be cleaned. Only thing I’ve been doing different is using the Thieves toothpaste and mouthwash.”

11/16/15 — My mom, Seth and me love the free bottle of Ortho Sport we got from our last qualifying purchase. It’s amazing on my leg cramps after exercise!!!

11/8/15 — My mom has been seeing ongoing support from her essential oils the past couple weeks, from help with her occasional sleeplessness, to suppressing occasional muscle spasms in her feet.

10/24/15 — Mom told me that at least a couple people have asked her what she’s doing different, because she seems happier. I’m so excited to have yet another success story with essential oils!!!!

10/16/15 — This past week I’ve been waking up just a few minutes before my alarm goes off. For those who don’t know, waking up naturally is healthier than waking by alarm. The only more recent change I can attribute this goodness to is diffusing lavender essential oil.

10/7/15 — Last night I was able to get some relief in my shoulder muscle by rolling on the Panaway blend of essential oils. Today it smells like fall in our house because I’m diffusing the Thieves essential oil blend.

10/2/15 — Peppermint essential oil saves the day! Seth and I had dairy for the first time in awhile, causing me to feel bloated. We mixed some of our peppermint essential oil with a carrier oil, rubbed it on our bellies, and shortly after we got some relief! Cool!!

9/28/15 — Lemon essential oil in my water has stopped my constant throat clearing. This is something I’ve dealt with for as many years as I can remember (15+ years?)!

essential oil safety tips

Below are additional common FAQ’s:

  1. I’m new to essential oils. How are they used? – Each bottle of Young Living essential oil is labeled with directions for how that oil can be used, and these directions vary based on location. Please consult with the product label for appropriate use directions.
  2. I see the term “carrier oil” used in several places. What is a carrier oil, what does it do, and why should I use it? – A carrier oil is a vegetable oil such as coconut oil or grapeseed oil that can be used to dilute EO. YL V-6 Vegetable Oil Complex is an excellent carrier oil for all applications. Carrier oils ensure that EOs applied topically are comfortable. Dilution with a carrier oil does not dilute the effect of the EO, and prevents waste due to excessive application. Vegetable shortening, butter, margarine or petroleum derivatives (petrolatum jelly) should never be used as carrier oils. Some consumers choose to avoid olive oil as a carrier oil because of its strong aroma and thick viscosity.
  3. What is a hot oil? – “Hot oils” are oils that, when applied to the skin, can cause a hot or burning sensation. YL recommends using a patch test procedure prior to first use. To perform a patch test, apply 1-2 drops of EO to a patch of skin such as the forearm. Observe that area of skin over the course of 1-2 hours for any noticeable reaction; usually reactions occur within 5-10 minutes. If you experience a hot or burning sensation or if you develop a rash, add V-6 carrier oil to the affected area as often as needed. Examples of “hot” oils include cinnamon, clove, lemongrass, peppermint, oregano, thyme, Exodus II, and Thieves.
  4. What if I experience skin discomfort or irritation? – If discomfort or irritation occurs, stop using the EO, and apply V-6 or other carrier oil to the affected area. Never use water in an attempt to flush the oil off the skin, as this may increase discomfort. If a rash occurs this may be a sign of detoxification; drink adequate water to encourage the release and removal of body toxins. Toxins present in petrochemical based soaps and skin care products, detergents and perfumes may trigger some of the detoxification reactions. Consider discontinuation of these agents if a reaction occurs. Before using the EO again, perform a patch test (see above) and dilute with carrier oil as needed. Water drives oil into the skin and the eyes. If EO gets in your eye, flush with V-6 carrier oil to alleviate any discomfort. Discomfort should be alleviated within minutes. If eye discomfort does not subside within 5 minutes, please seek medical attention. Be aware that some documents suggest diluting the oil with water. YL suggests that you dilute with carrier oil to ensure that discomfort is alleviated as quickly as possible.
  5. Can essential oils be applied to sensitive areas? – YL recommends that you avoid contact with EOs and sensitive areas such as eyes, ears, genitals and mucous membranes. If you choose to use the oil in any sensitive area, dilute 1 drop of the essential oil to 5-10 drops of V-6 carrier oil.
  6. How often can essential oils be applied? How much do I use? – Proper usage is indicated on each EO label. Please follow label instructions. The idea of “if a little is good, a lot is better” is not always correct. Essential oils are very potent and powerful– start low and go slow. In most cases 1-2 drops are adequate and using more may waste product. Depending on the EO you can gradually build up to 3-4 uses per day if desired. Excessive use of essential oils may increase the risk for adverse reactions.
  7. Can essential oils be used during pregnancy or while nursing? – As with any medical condition it is strongly recommended that, prior to use of essential oils, you seek the advice and recommendation of a competent, trained health care advisor who is experienced in EO usage. It is generally recommended to avoid overuse and excessive use of Clary Sage (Salvia sclarea), Sage (Salvia officinalis), Tansy (Tanacetum vulgare), Hyssop (Hyssopus officinalis), Fennel (Foeniculum vulgare), and Wintergreen (Gaultheria procumbens) as well as the blends and supplements that contain these oils.
  8. Can essential oils be used on children? – Many EOs are appropriate for use with children, and they should be diluted prior to use. Some YL products are pre-diluted with carrier oil as indicated on product label and are intended for direct application on children. Children generally respond well to EO, and use of a carrier oil is recommended. One-2 drops of EO such as SleepyIze, RutaVala, Gentle Baby and Peace & Calming may be diluted in carrier oil and applied to the bottom of the feet.
  9. How does exposure to sun affect essential oil use? – Some EOs, especially citrus oils, contain natural molecules that react with sunlight (UV light) and cause a sensitivity reaction. All YL EOs and oil blends that contain these compounds are labeled with a warning to avoid sun/UV light for 12 to 48 hours after applying. Caution should always be used when starting to use a new oil: use patch testing (see above), dilute and apply the oil to skin that is protected from sun/UV exposure to reduce the risk of sensitivity. YL beauty and cosmetic products are formulated to remove sun-sensitizing agents to reduce the risk of sun sensitivity.
  10. What about the use of essential oils if I have a medical condition? Can essential oils interact with prescription medications? – If you have a disease or medical condition, or if you are using a prescription medication, it is recommended that you consult with a health advisor who has experience with EOs prior to using an EO. Seek the advice of the prescribing physician and a pharmacist about potential interactions between the medication(s) and the essential oil(s).

Skeptical of essential oils?

Skeptical of essential oils?
October 1, 2015

I’ve never been skeptical of essential oils, at least from the company I use and promote, because they come from nature, not a laboratory. I know this because of the seed to seal promise (the videos below are only a couple minutes each, and well worth the time).

To me, it just makes sense to use essential oils. What doesn’t make sense are the drugs we take with the never ending list of side effects. I didn’t realize it until I finally put the pieces together, but one pain reliever I was using consistently, was causing me to randomly bruise! What ended up solving the problem? Lifestyle adjustments. I haven’t used this drug for almost half a year now.

While drugs may work, at what cost? Since I’ve been a kid, my mom has been told, “try this, try that, try this other thing.” Unfortunately, the solutions have only been a bandaid, and she just ends up with different problems.

My one concern with essential oils was whether I could add another expense to my already inadequate financial situation, but after finding they helped me, I couldn’t justify NOT getting them, and found I was spending plenty of money on other “solutions”.
