Habits. Anything can become a habit: that glass of wine to wind down each day, a tall latte on the way to work, the evening stroll with the family around the neighborhood.
For me, working out is a habit. A habit I crave. The physical activity benefits my body, while the challenges put before me benefit my spirit and mind. Was it always this way? ha!
I used to run marathons, ride in long distance biking events, attend classes at the gym. Initially, the social interaction drew me in. I knew it was good for me but it didn’t make it any easier. I stuck with it and it became a habit.
Am I the first to cross the finish line? Nope. Do I lift the heaviest at the gym. No way. But it’s not about that. It’s about being a good steward with what God has given me. And setting an example for my children. Not to be “fit” or “skinny” (I have girls-we don’t use those words). It teaches to live a healthy lifestyle and take care of the one body they were given.
We have one shot at life. The habits we sink into can benefit us if we choose the right ones. What’s your healthy habit?
