Sandi’s Low-Tox Living

The air in your
clean home isn’t clean.

That fresh, lemony “just cleaned” smell? It’s a cocktail of synthetics your lungs never signed up for. Here’s what the research actually found — and the two-minute swap that fixes it.

American Journal of Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine

Over 20 years, women responsible for cleaning at home showed measurably faster lung function decline than women who weren’t — about −22.1 mL per year versus −18.5.

Researchers compared the cumulative effect to a long-term smoking habit. Online, that got flattened into “like smoking 20 cigarettes a day,” which overstates it — the real finding is smaller. It also held up for two decades across 22 research centers. You don’t need a whole new life. Just a couple of quiet swaps.

Our Home

Here’s what’s actually under our sink.

Read the labels. Compare them to whatever’s in your cabinet right now. If ours doesn’t hold up, don’t buy it — but go swap that other bottle for something better.

Low-Tox Drops

Things I learned the hard way. Or the slow way. Plus the research, so you're not taking my word for it. I don't do fear but I'm all about ownership. Small swaps, made on purpose. Start with whatever's under your sink which is Thieves (see above) is all about.
